Private Lessons Offered

Music lessons at Hungry Monk Music are generally 30 minutes long and are offered on a weekly basis. Schedules and fees vary depending on instructors.


Guitar, Bass, & UKULELE

We offer lessons for acoustic and electric guitar, bass, and ukulele in all styles including Classical, Rock, Folk, and Jazz. We start guitar students as young as 6 and so far our oldest student has been 82. We teach all levels from beginners to advanced. Many of our students have gone on to professional careers and college study.

 

Piano

Private piano lessons for all ages from beginning to advanced. Traditional classical instruction as well as popular styles including rock, blues, and jazz are all offered.

 

Strings

Violin, Viola, Cello, and Bass lessons are all available. From beginners to advanced players, our students include classical students from the Charleston County School of the Arts and other public and private schools, as well as folk musicians studying Bluegrass and Celtic music. Beginning students participate in a Saturday group class, and all students are invited to join the Hungry Monk String Orchestra.

 

Voice

Everyone has a voice to sing with. Learn how to use yours to express yourself through song. No matter what style of music you are interested in, from Classical to popular, our vocal faculty can help you to gain control of your instrument and use it properly.

 

Mandolin/Banjo

The mandolin can play all styles of music. Study Bluegrass, Celtic, Classical, Folk and Rock. Learn tunes by ear, chord accompaniment and learn to read music. Banjo students can learn 3-finger style Bluegrass style and/or Clawhammer style.

 

Percussion

From drum set to orchestral percussion, our faculty can get you ready to rock out with a band, or audition for area junior high and high school bands. Learn proper technique, music reading, chart reading, and modern drum styles.

 

Clarinet

Orchestral clarinet instruction.
